Parking plan hearings: Monday and Wednesday 6 PM

Mayor Mark Mallory, City Manager Milton Dohoney, and Mayoral candidate Roxanne Qualls are the architects of the City plan to lease the City's parking meters for 30 years, in exchange for an upfront payment of $92 million.

For a City on its knees both in debt and seeking monies for new capital projects it can't afford, it appears to be an irresistible temptation, but also a deadly one for our City.

But, the citizens are mere pawns in this debate, as no one has thought to inform them of the details of the Mallory/Dohoney/Qualls plan.  Less than 24 hours before the hearing, we have not been informed of the details of the plan, relatively par for the course for this super-secretive City administration.

But tomorrow, presumably we will learn the details. the good, the bad and the ugly.

And there will concurrently be hearings on the plan, at 6 PM Monday and 6 PM Wednesday.  City Hall.  Be there if you want to learn the details and be heard.
