Utterly remarkable tidbit from WCPO Digital Mallory/Spain travel story

COAST here highlighted a blockbuster story from Kevin Osborne on Mayor Mark Mallory's costly trips for he and his staff to Spain and planned trip to Toyko.

But buried inside the story was this remarkable tidbit:

In all, Mallory has taken more than five dozen trips during his past 7 1/2 years in office. Now in his second term, Mallory will leave office in December due to term limits.
Five dozen is 60, thus more than 60 trips on the dime of the taxpayer.

Now. let's back up a minute.  At the outset of the Mayor's tenure, Duke Energy paid to the City an "Economic Development" slush fund.  That slush fund has been used apparently exclusively for the Mayor's travel.  Seems like maybe some pre-planned graft to us.

But beyond that, 60 trips?  60 in eight years?  That's an average of seven and a half junkets per year.  And how many jobs has Mayor Mallory brought home for that payoff?  None that we have noticed.

Is it any wonder the Mayor is leaving Cincinnati in an abysmal shambles?
