Vice Mayor and Chairman of the City's Finance Committee Roxanne Qualls had announced that this week would be the definitive Council vote on the future of the Cincinnati Streetcar. Milton Dohoney has told Council that without an additional $17.4 million approved by the Council, the Streetcar project is dead, which of course was music to our little COASTer ears.
So, Qualls had set this coming week as D-Day for the Streetcar, time to put up or shut up. After seven years of debate, planning and wasted millions, this was the crescendo of it all.
But on Friday, Jane Prendergast of the Enquirer, who covers City Hall, and thus would know, Tweeted to us that "Vote postponed. Only budget stuff Tuesday."
So, despite our waiting with baited breath, it appears we will have to wait a little longer to see if we can take our much anticipated ride on the toy trolley from Fountain Square to Findlay Market.
