20 More Days to Vote YES ON ISSUE 9

"Progressers" have had a fixation recently on kiddy trains and amusement rides. That makes sense since the proposed streetcar has little if any transportation value, so it essentially winds up being an amusement ride too. That's why "Progressers" would rather talk about anything but the City's dreaded choo-choo-train plan. The streetcar is so indefensible that even "Progressers" won't endorse it.

So with a tip of our conductor's hat, we dedicate this song to our friends on the other side. Including tomorrow and election day, November 3rd, there are only 20 more polling days for you to Vote YES ON ISSUE 9. Click here for extended voting hours.

    ...you found a really neat kids video on youtube. Hey, I'll give credit where credits due. I bet it was tough to put aside researching an issue and focus on watching children's videos on the internet. You should be proud of your efforts.

    Not us. It's the "progressers" who are picking on the Zoo train.

    They're desperately searching for a rail system that people actually like so they can use it as an example to demonize the charter amendment. They used to cite the Eastern Corridor project. Then the Obama administration realized it wasn't shovel-ready and retracted their stimulus funding. Not a peep from the public, so obviously nobody liked that one.

    Next they began pounding on the 3C project, saying the charter amendment would remove Cincinnati from the route. Then the Bortz family & Towne Properties pulled some strings to put the 3C at Lunken instead of downtown. One of your biggest trolley boosters essentially killed rail in the urban core, and the charter amendment had nothing to do with it. Public opposition played a big role in killing that boondoggle; so again, nobody's going to mourn that train.

    So now "progressers" are reduced to claiming that the kiddy train at the Zoo is a passenger rail transportation system. What's next the Python Kiddy Coaster at Old Coney?

    What we find most comical is that "progressers" dare not mention the proposed streetcar plan. You would think that might be something they could get folks to rally around. But no, the streetcar is like Kryptonite to a "progresser." Even they don't want anything to do with it.

  5. The train in your video looks very much like the train at the zoo. It also has all the kids on board. It can only mean that you're picking on the zoo train. It looks like the zoo train, sounds like the zoo train, and moves kids like the zoo train.

    Is COAST trying to tell me that the zoo train is not a "passenger rail" system? It moves passengers, and is rail. Tell me how it isn't covered by the written amendment.

    Despite the fact that project is not shovel ready, eventually an Eastern Corridor project will come to fruition, the rail aspect of it has been called "absolute necessity" by the OKI regional concil of governments, however your ridiculous charter amendment would get in the way of that and stall a project that could benefit the entire region.

    Actually, it was the NIMBY group who came out and opposed a riverfront station for the 3C corridor. The Lunken site was chosen by state 3C officials as an alternative and it could be linked to downtown via the Eastern Corridor or Oasis line. However, as pointed out earlier, you charter amendment would stall and slow down both the 3C and the Eastern Corridor project and could effectively keep the city of Cincinnati off the 3c route.

    So now "progressers" are reduced to claiming that the kiddy train at the Zoo is a passenger rail transportation system.

    If we're the "progressers," does that make you guys the "anti-progressers?" Nice to see you guys admitting you're opposed to the city/region moving forward. Again, it wasn't just anti-9 people who brought up the zoo train, it was Cincinnati Enquirer columnist Barry Horstman, remember him? He also brought to light just how ridiculous your charter amendment is and called it a "poison pill."

  7. FACT - If not for the streetcar plan Issue 9 would have never come to fruition. But progressors will have you believe that it has NOTHING to do with the streetcar.
    Of course I wouldn't want to have to take that piece of junk plan to the voters for approval either.
