Why are you lying about the funding of the Streetcar, again? What public safety was cut, other than some OT? What future funds have been earmarked to cut police or fire? Please show your work with a citation of fact? Why are you not calling for a vote to bock the 809 Million dollars being spent on an I-74 "expansion" that was not asked for the by the people? Then use that money to fund both the City and County public safety? Where is your consistency?I know, I won't get answers, but I wonder why you use lies to make your political points? How is that an honorable, ethical, or Christian thing to do?
Once we get that streetcar those numbers will go down! You'll see!
24 Hours later and no response to my questions. Typical.
I think that the lack of responsible reporting and downright lies are why most people with any type of higher education, realize that COAST is a joke. I'm a registered Republican, 24 years old, and am outraged and embarrassed by Mr. Luken and the rest of COAST. I was born in Cincinnati and have lived here my entire life, aside from 6 months when I lived and worked abroad for an internship. The anti-city, anti-cosmopolitan, anti-urban, and anti-modern nature of COAST should be an embarrassment to everyone in Cincinnati.Furthermore, I do not understand how the structure, funding, and wasted resources within the Cincinnati Police and Fire departments (particularly due to union contracts) have not been analyzed by an organization whose existence is supposed to be based on being "opposed to additional spending". Yes, these women and men work extremely dangerous jobs. However, that does not give them carte blanche to demand whatever salaries and benefits they would like. (Pay attention to how many firemen have the time to work additional jobs too...) Thanks for being such watchdogs! You've done so much to help our city...

I have just removed a post from a critic who suggested that COASTers should be murdered. If you can't make your point without encouraging violence against people who disagree with you, don't bother posting here.
Griff - "Why are you not calling for a vote to bock the 809 Million dollars being spent on an I-74 "expansion" that was not asked for the by the people?"There is, as you well know, know referendum process available to citizens to challenge federal highway spending. Why would COAST call for a vote that by law cannot happen? The founders of the City of Cincinnati Charter, however, did put a process in place fore resident of the City to referendum actions of Council. There's your answer. Sorry it took more than 24hours. The better question is, if you're against highway spending, then YOU call for a vote. You won't, because it would require you to get off of your lazy ass and leave OTR for a few minutes. Please show me the ballot option that people have to call for a vote on federal highway spending. Show me something, anything, that says you can. I know, I won't get answers, but I wonder why you use lies to make your political points. How is that an honorable, ethical, or Christian thing to do?Hypocrite...
If we had a streetcar and higher taxes we'd have fewer murders.
COAST,You put up a ballot on the election in 2009 that would require the people of Cincinnati to vote on every rail project regardless of city council's decisions.Since that failed, are you just going to post a ballot initiative every election to stop individual projects?Could you tell me some ideas to reduce the homicide rate in Cincinnati? Obviously the problem is not in the number of police officers on the streets, or we would have fewer homicides than many of the other cities on the list (and the streetcar has not cut any police or fire). Do you think we need more police officers? Do you think we need to pay them more? What is your solution?
We have more police per capita than either Columbus or Cleveland. If so- doesn't this prove to you COAST folks that sheer numbers of police isn't the most important factor.
CliftonGuy,No. It proves to us that police per capita is a meaningless statistic. You don't buy mousetraps based on the number of rooms in your house; the only pertinent statistic is how many mice you have.Likewise, you don't staff a police department based on the number of law-abiding citizens within your borders. You hire enough cops to handle the level of crime you have.
"You hire enough cops to handle the level of crime you have."And building a streetcar won't be "decimating" said cops to handle the level of crime we have. In fact, it won't even be affecting it. Streetcar or not, police layoffs will be coming.
Does COAST like anything about Cincinnati?
Tony,We LOVE Cincinnati, which is why we work so hard to restore her honor and glory.
"Tony, We LOVE Cincinnati, which is why we work so hard to restore her honor and glory."HaHa, you're kidding, right!? What a joke. You mean the honor and glory we had when Luken was in charge? We're fighting to bring that back!? Luken needs to go the way of his dinosaur buddies, become a fossil.COASTers are kool-aid drinking pawns working to bolster Chris Finney's career and name while Finney is working for Anderson Township's "honor and glory".
the biggest anti-cincinnati group ever. what is your problem? why are you trying to destroy this city and it's momentum?if you hate this city so much, GET OUT
Yeah these what's with these people who oppose spending $143 million on a streetcar. Anyone who opposes our all-white choo-choo train hates the city.
We follow the "living room" rule. Exhibit the same courtesy you would show guests in your home.
