Delmer "Del" Landis Jr., July 19, 1943 - August 6, 2013
COAST lost a great friend yesterday, Delmer "Del"
Landis. Del was co-founder of North COAST, Board member of COAST, and a
personal mentor and friend to many of us. From his obituary:
He inspired all of who
know him well with zest for life and determination to live it well for as long
as he could. He was an aerospace engineer at GE in Evendale from the time he
left Southern Illinois University with a Masters Degree until his retirement 15
years ago.
He was involved in significant engine part designs, held several
patents, and eventually served in a customer service role that allowed him to
travel the world - Moscow, Paris, New Zealand, South Africa, Europe, etc. After
retirement, he had a second career at Belcan where he was a liaison with GE.
Committed to giving back to his community, he was a former member of the Kings
School Board; a member of the grassroots political action group COAST in Warren
County; and volunteered with the Deerfield Township Historical Society. He
wrote a township history book -- Deerfield Stories an Anthology of Little
Histories Warren County Ohio. He was active in his church, Prince of Peace
Lutheran Church in Loveland. And in his retirement years, he wrote and self
published three romantic suspense novels on Amazon.com - Copper Coin, Copper Cousins,
Copper Mountain.
Friends will be
received at the Tufts Schildmeyer Family Funeral Home 129 N. Riverside Dr.
